About

As caretakers of a legacy, the Facilities Planning office assists in ensuring an integrated and sustainable approach toward the long term planning and management of our campus land, buildings, and historic resources. Planning is an office within the Campus Planning, Design and Construction division of CU Boulder Facilities Management (FM) department. Our office works closely with the campus community and campus administration during the planning of major capital projects.

The Facilities Planning office leads an integrated approach to strategic planning and design excellence in creating a model campus consistent with the University of Colorado's status as one of the leading academic/research institutions in the world. We support CU's mission to educate, provide community service and encourage environmental sustainability.

What We Do

Our FM planning office assists the campus community to articulate the translation of proposed planning initiatives into defined capital projects, with sufficient information and detail for seeking to support authorization of Board of Regents approval to add the project to the Capital Improvement Program. Campus Planning continues to act as a liaison when additional input or direction is needed from campus administration during design and construction.

As land use professionals, we provide the CU-Boulder community with state of the art expertise in the following areas:

  • Land use planning
  • Architecture
  • Landscape architecture
  • Historic and environmental preservation
  • Sustainability practices
  • Urban Design
  • Institutional Space Management and Planning

Our department goals encompass:

  • Innovation in the form of strategic thinking and creative practice to improve the results of the planning and capital development processes
  • Creation of effective communication networks with various constituents, both internal and external, as the University of Colorado's responsible liaison in physical design and planning.
